Georgian Bay
Rockscape Design loves challenges and Georgian Bay usually delivers us a few. Most of our work on Georgian Bay is island work which involves coordinating a barge to deliver material and move our equipment, boats to transport staff, sometimes severe and quick changing weather and the access to the island can also be limited in some cases making it difficult to get to the area in need of landscaping without damaging the natural beauty of the island. We are not complaining though, this is what we do best and enjoy every minute of the challenges these opportunities present!

Lake Joseph:
This island project was completed several years ago and our clients wanted to see lots of colour in their landscape - creating amazing results throughout the season. The natural grand staircase is complimented and its impact is dramatically raised by the addition of lots of tall and colourful perennials that flower for most of July and August. The slope surrounding the cottage on this property proved to be a challenge for our hardscape crew but through the use of natural boulder we were able to plant along the slope to create a colourful view from the lake!
Lake Rosseau:
This project was completed during the 2010 season. This relatively small island was completely transformed - from the building of an absolutely gorgeous cottage and several smaller support buildings. It was then our job to provide access for the homeowners to move around the island with general ease - this included several flagstone walkways and patios, as well as granite staircases. We also created a sloped smooth granite walkway that allowed for the homeowners to smoothly drive their golf cart on the stone walkway. This project was finished off with extremely colourful and showy planting that awes visitors to the island throughout the whole season.
Haliburton:
We recently began to work in the Haliburton area again - it had been several years since we had worked on projects in this area but we are now extending our services to include this neighboring region. We see lots of beautiful log homes being built around the lakes throughout the Muskoka region and in the summer of 2011 we were able to venture to Haliburton to work on a beautiful log constructed home. One of the challenges on this job was to create a landscape that worked with the large scale of the home - this was achieved using oversized flagstone and spaded trees. A large firepit patio was created as a landscape highlight - we love to create spaces that will be used to entertain and gather friends and family together.
